A week before Facebook's F8 Conference, Kik has launched their own bot store and a developer platform. As an aside, it is clear now why Kik's lawyers wanted the author of left-pad to give up the NPM module "kik" (which inadvertently broke the internet).
[Paywall] Ahead of F8 again, there's more leaks on what Facebook is planning with Messenger. The Information has the scoop and it appears that Facebook is preparing features to spur more purchases on Messenger, such as giving users capabilities to pay for items they pick up in person. The Messenger app’s data files also suggest users may soon be able to chat in “secret.”
MetaMind another "picks-and-shovels" startup in the bots space was snapped up by Salesforce this week. Salesforce plans to integrate MetaMind's technology into Salesforce services. For unpaid web users, MetaMind's products will be discontinued on May 4. For our monthly recurring users, MetaMind's products will be discontinued on June 4.
